Short, Lightweight Bolt Action Suggestions?

I've never warmed up to the full stocked rifles. I think they are funny looking.

I like them. Have a soft spot for Mannlichers. Nowdays they are just about the only rifles (excepting some #1's) with iron sights. There are a few Euro guns with iron sights, but they are few and far between. A used Rem 600/660 would fit the bill too. - dan

Why not get a Remington Model 7 and add open sights to it? And be more respectful...

Look around for a Remington M788. It came in .308 with an 18.5" barrel. Discontinued in 1980, but you'll likely find a used one. Much better rifle than their M600(Discontinued in 1967).
A barrel that short will be loud with lots of muzzle blast though.

I own multiple versions of both. I'm curious what makes you figure the 788 is better then the 600/660? - dan
