Short Mossberg 500 Barrels?

I wanted a shorty for an old beater mossy/lakefield I have. Closest thing to "short" I found was a 18.5 at brownells. After thinking about it for a day, I decided it wasn't worth the effort to import it, so I just chopped (hacksaw and dremel) the old 30inch barrel to 18 1/8 and called it a day.

Not as nice as those short 870's, but all in all not too bad. Apparently any idiot CAN shorten a 12 gauge barrel.

Just make sure you have a square or something handy to check your cut if you go this route.

Oh... And don't do like me and mark where you are going to drill for a new bead, and then sand the mark off to cold blue the barrel. Now I have to figure out a way to center a new bead.

Well crap. I wish I knew that like 6 hours ago before I went and chopped my barrel. It was a useless barrel anyway, but it would've saved me the work.

I can't find the short barrels on their website. Do you have a link by chance?

No one is making barrels for Mossbergs under 18". A shame, I think that there is a market for them.
