some time back, someone posted a picture of a short, bolt action synthetic stocked norinco brno knockoff.Looked just the thing for a truck gun for potting grouse, and there was considerable interest but they said it wasn't in stock yet.Did anyone ever bring them in?

I believe that was Canada Ammo that posted the picture and as far as I have been able to figure out they are still bringing them in sometime later this year, check out Canada Ammo in dealer section.

That shorty appears to be just a JW15 with a cut down barrel, slightly shorter fore-stock and repositioned front sight.

This is very easy to achieve with any JW15. I have one and trimmed barrel down to 15" to make it a great little weapon to shoot from my 4x4. Has proven very effective.

Can be done by any gunsmith at very little cost.

Unfortunately when you cut a barrel below 18" it becomes a prohib. Only if it comes from a manufacture at that length and the overall length is still over 26" are you legal. Don't blame me, blame the Canuk Laws.

Very nice, two illegal acts in one post. Mudgrip4, I suggest you read up on the Firearms Act and see where you have gone wrong.

No laws broken where I come from ... I live in New Zealand and trimming a barrel to 15" is normal practice and breaks no rules, so long as overall rifle length is not less than 762mm.

We may be lucky with respect to mods we can do .. your regulations must be quite different.

My mistake, mudgrip4. Good to hear not everybody is saddled with idiotic laws regarding these things.
