short Pietta PPS-50, 22LR Synthetic review.

Nice review. I've been eyeing these for a while, still need to add a 22 semi to the collection... the jam o matic reviews have kept me at bay though. Maybe I'll have to reconsider...

I had one, flipped it for a shotgun. I had a similar experience as you. Fine shooter.
The super cheap stock was the only disappointment for me.

The Jammomatic isn't an issue with quality ammo. Use a copper jacketed (no open lead tip) and a higher velocity load and these never fail. Mines certainly functioned much better than any 10-22 I've ever owned. I can honestly say I've went through many many drums of ammo and never a single fail.

So something like cci mini mags or federal 525 boxes should function without issue?

I had 2 of the first production models ..wood stocked/ metal drums, metal sticks,...kept one . Love it.
Only issue was, both started fail to fire,..both guns barrels had come loose & moved forward....easy fix & tighten retainer screw..Voila . Super little cheap guns !

I use minimags as my standard load because I can get it regularily. My favorites that function best are the Stinger and the Yellowjacket. Another tip, make sure you throw some oil in once in a while on the reciprocating parts. Functions much better for me. I just throw a few drops in the ejection port. Honestly I dont know what the manual says in this regard. But it works for me. Just keeps cycling.

Only problem with those rifles, is they jam with the drum due to 2 problems caused from loading, Loading the mag causes damage to the rounds as the pressure increases, and the ramp is a cheap sheet of steel that funnels the rounds off of the drum and up the mag. With the pressure pushing down you mend the ramp, it becomes more vertical and the slope decreases the efficiency of the spring to actually feed well. Both easy fixes by opening the back of the mag to load it.

I have now put a Bushnell 3x9 scope on. I was trying to shoot clays @ 100 yards but my eyes were failing me.

I've got that scope on my mark ii. It's certainly not the brightest but the price was right ($37 or so.)

The rings that came with it fit the dovetail on the receiver? (Mine went on weaver mounts, so the rings were useless to me...)

Hi all,

What kind of grouping can one expect at 50 and 100 meters?
And does anyone sell the 50 round drum mags? Marstar does not have them?

Thanks,
