Considering one of these. What does the short throat actually mean? Can you only reload? Or will any factory ammo work. I know what the throat is, but am unclear how it applies here. Thanks..

That just means the distance from the bullet, when it is chambered, to the lands is "shorter." But shorter than what is actually a good question. Is it shorter than the 77s used to be, or what. However, you can be assured it will chamber any factory loaded cartridge and probably any handload that can be loaded into the magazine. Don't worry about it. If you feel the bolt tighten on a handload as the bolt is closed, it may be the bullet is into the lands. But don't worry about it, many of us prefer to have the bullets make contact with the lands, if we are shooting for accuracy and don't mind loading them single shot.
