Just wondering if a shotgun can have its barrel shortened a bit, and then a choke is reinstalled?

situation:

have an old old singleshot, barrel is really really long and my little cousin needs something to shoot,, so i thought why not this? (Only spare shotgun i have). Anyways, the thing is way too long for him as hes a short person. I was thinking of trimming the barrel or getting a smith to do it, keeping it non restricted. But the problem would be cutting out the choke. Do you guys know of anything that can be done to keep it with a full choke or modified?

thanks

Where the choke will actually go requires measurment for thickness and concentricity before a decision can be made if a choke tube could be installed. There are different aftermarket tube systems that require different specifications. Choke tube installation can cost over $150 I think.

Depending on what you'll be shooting at, having no choke at all may be a good thing. Skeet, grouse, ducks over decoys, for example.

Yep, but it'll likely cost you more than a single shot shotgun is worth.
"...little cousin..." How little? Shooting at what?
