So I traded a savage 340 30-30 a few years ago to another gunnut for a squires & bingham 14P. It was for the girlfriend to shoot so she would come out more. was fine for shooting from the bench and is very accurate. but with a "bull" like barrel and the longer LOP it was too much for offhand shooting for her.
I shortened the LOP from 13.75" down to 11.75". then took it too the local smith and had him knock the bbl from 23" down too 18.5"
now with a 33" OAL it balances great and fits her properly. should make a great gopher popper and grouse gun in the fall.
