Shortening barrel question!

Does shortening a rifle barrel by half length decrease accuracy a lot when it comes to a .22 cal?

No. Not at all, assuming it is done correctly. Could even improve it.

Only if you are using the longer length for a sight radius would accuracy suffer...

If using a scope there is an excellent chance it will shoot better...

Please correct me if i'm wrong but would'nt shortening the barrel fall under the categorie of "altering" it, thus making it prohib? thought you had tu buy a barrel that was manufactured shorter.

The question was about accuracy, not legality. Obviously, a .22rf barrel cannot be cut to less than 18".
