Shortening Mossberg 500 Synthetic Stock

Anyone done this? Both my 500's have synthetic stocks (good) with thick recoil pads attached (bad). The addition of the recoil pad increases the length of pull to almost 15.3 inches. I shoot at 14.4 inches.

Before I fire up the mitre saw - any pitfalls here?

Not really. The attachment channels for the screws run nearly the full length of the stock. I will caution that you should drill out the holes. Any attempt to insert the screw into solid plastic will result in a split screw channel(ask me how I know). Chop, file off the burrs and re-attach the putt bad.
