Hi Bearhunter, thanks for the comment. for what I am looking at there is no work required on the ejector rod housing, etc. it is a 7.5" barrel that i would like cut back to 4 5/8". It would require the front sight work though. I checked at one place i have dealt with before and was given an estimate of $700-800.00, which i thought was on the high side. If I could obtain a take-off .357 barrel in the right length I would go that route. As far as I know, Ruger will not sell barrels unless you return the firearm to the factory, but that may have changed.
