Slightly longer with a 5inch full underlug barrel: S&W 629 with the round butt configuration. Has a better trigger than an out of box Ruger IMO. Best S&W you'll get without prohibited status.

Edit: Measures exactly 10 inches overall with the factory rosewood grips.

Ruger Redhawk in 4.2 inch, i just sold one. Its the shortest 44 ive seen in canada and its pretty rare.

I believe we'll be seeing some 4.2 inch 629's soon as well. Plus isn't Armco doing a barrel bob to longer 629's on a semi regular basis?

I've seen a couple of prohib length guns in .44Mag but by the way you're asking I gather you don't have 12-6.

I have seen pics of the shortened armco .44's and they are awesome

If you want "shortest", you could go with a custom 4.2" barrel for a Contender... For production guns, the 'new' 4.2" Ruger Redhawk and S&W 629 would be your best bet.
