shorting barrel

I have my dads old goose gun it has the old polychoke on it.
Is it legal to get tha barrel cut down to a useful length?

Cut away! As long as the finished barrel is at least 18.5 inches, there are no problems. If the barrel is cut to less than 18.5 inches, the gun becomes a prohibited device.

Semi auto's are 18.5", a pump/bolt/single etc can be cut to 18"

Good to hear I can cut it down. like this shotgun because it is pump action and has a removable box magazine.
