Just for reference, I'm wondering about the fit and finish of factory original Springfield stocks. I like the original stock on my shorty, but I want to sand down some of the sharp edges. I'd like to sand it such that it resembles a factory original sprinfield stock, but am unsure of how they look upclose. Are the sharp edges more rounded on the real deal?

See my thread titled "SA Stock Fit to Norinco Receiver". I posted some pics in there. I will take some more pics if i have time this weeked and give you some better closeups.

Here are a few comparison shots between the stock from a Norinco Shorty and a Springfield Armory Stock from a SOCOM 16.

I don't think so. The fit and finish on the SA stock is much nicer. That metal plus the type/density of plastic also makes the Norc stock much heavier. SA weighs almost 1.5 pounds lighter.
SA stock weighs 2.5 lbs
Norc stock weighs 3.9 lbs

WTF, the norc has a steel lining but the SA doesn't?! Wouldn't that make the norc a little better?

Oops, my weights are off a bit, probably more like 1.0 lb difference. My Norc stock still has the cleaning kit+tool in it, and the SA doesn't.
