Define "viable". Its a commercial model, and restricted. If you are into collecting the SKS platform then its totally cool. If you just want an sks for non-restricted plinking then not very viable.

There's also a fixed magazine version - the Navy Arms "Cowboy Companion" (wierd name for a Chinese Rifle) 16 inch tube makes it restricted.

I have been researching the SKS lately and was amazed to find how many SKS milsurps are bubba'd and "dressed up" by American importers. Navy Arms had their Chinese SKS, Century Arms had their Yugo SKS "sniper" with surplus Romanian PSL scopes. I especially laugh at early imported Russian SKS's as they have CCCP stamped on the receiver to make it look just a bit more Russian. It makes you appreciate the quality and originality of Canadian milsurps. I will take a properly pined Canadian import over an American import marked and "marketed" milsurp any day... But I do wish with we had the opportunity to get our hands on some Romanian and Albanian SKS's.
