I have a m14 cut down to the usual 18.75" and threaded by Dlask and put one offhand gorgeous muzzle breaks on. I'm just curious how would I be able to put the old one back on? Obviously for easier removal and cleaning it would have to be tapped and put a small set screw on. Is that right? Can any gunsmith do this? Or is there a little more to it?

Thanks o mighty m14 gurus!

your barrel is now 1/2 x 28

so..... you go back to joe and get him to mill the splineways on the barrel for the flash hider...... if he'll do it heheheh

then get one of his 1/2 x 28 thread protectors and have it notched like a castlenut.
this way the whole works goes on like it does on the standard barrel.

the stickied mod by misanthropist from a while back is another way but joe won't ream the flash hiders anymore.... too many blown up taps and reamers and a few flash hiders actually blew apart during tooling. the excessive hardness on the chinese flash hiders makes them very brittle and poor for retooling.
