I'm glad I stopped by to see the guys at ELCAN on my last day at Shot. I spoke to Trevor at Armament Technology, he showed me that they have a new, slimline knob for the Specter DR series. In addition, it now takes the more common coin-style battery, which is easier to find, much cheaper and DOUBLES the battery life.

They are doing a retrofit for existing ELCAN owners. Here's how it works: For those who purchased their scope in 2016, they can do the retrofit for $100 with proof of purchase. For everyone else they will do it for $250. The retrofit program will be available in the near future.

Only other new thing for ELCAN, they are finally introducing FDE colour for the 1.5-6x model.

Will this be a user level retrofit, or does it need to be done at a clean room level?
Is there any indication that a change in batteries and battery life will degrade brightness levels?

Apologies for all the questions. It does look like a viable option for those that want to simplify battery inventory.

Yes but at 250$ it's rather expensive for the little improvement. Even on a 2000$ optic, it's still a simple battery compartment and power switch.

It's not cheap, but good to see ELCAN is making continuous improvements on the current product line.

I've ordered a set of their new flip up covers as well and I can't wait to get them.
