I set up early Sunday morning in a field approx. 100 yards away from the bush. I started calling (using a carlton Jack rabbit in distress). after 3 series of calling, I was concentrating on the bush in front of me, hoping that a coyote would come to investigate. After a couple of minutes of eyeing closely in front of me, I turn my head 90% to the right, to see this guy looking at me, no more then 40 yards away (he came over from the wide open field). He saw me reach for my rifle, and went down the field in high gear, only to stop at 125-150 yards away, quartering away from me and turned his head back. Big mistake.
Shot with a Brno Fox, 222.
Not a coyote, but at least I didn't get skunked.
