Shot a STI GP6 yesterday - This is my humble opinion

Raw forging barrels are from CZUB, machined by us.
Slides - raw cast - doughter foundry of FN, CNC machined by us
inserts, plastic, extractors, hammers, sears - own CNC machined
steel sheet stamping - subcontractor
magazines - Italy
any question ?
Yours
Yaro

The barrel is machined by CZUB. The slides are cast by FN Herstal. The polymer frame and it's insert are made by GP in-house. Can't speak about the remaining parts.
Welcome Back Yaro!
Since I can't keep GP-6s on the shelf, and STI is moving more than 2 times as many as they estimated;
I gotta say that Contondant and Timbertec are way off target.
Sorry guys.

Toss in the two top level production shooters in NS who are shooting the snot outta GP6s here with excellent results and I'll easily leave it to the crowd to decide who's right about these little beauties.:D

I've had the oppertunity to wring out Gunnar's GP6, against a Glock 19, Para LTC, Norc 34, S&W 659, Browning high power and a Norc 213. Loved it soooo much that there's going to be some stuff coming up on the EE soon. Has the fibre front & nicer rear sight. And the best trigger pull I've ever had in a pistol short of my S&W 41. Accurate, always worked, easy to shoot, feels great in my size Med. hands. The safety on this one is good, Sights are very good, mags are still a bit stiff, but no worse than any of the other 10 rd double stackers. Even one of my buds who hates polymer frame guns, and carries a glock on duty, really likes this one. It really is that nice. The only quirk I noticed was the first time I field stripped it, and had a bit of fun getting it back together. Once I got the groove on that, it was easy. This one`s a keeper guys.

The trick is to have the barrel at the end of the travel in the slide with the groove in the right position.

I have a brand new GP6 that I was going to shoot in IPSC production. Fits my hand well and the trigger seems sweet but the sights could use an upgrade. The safety is redundant and does not need to be there but I can live with that.

The problem rests with the mag release. More often than not the mags fail to seat and I have to pound them in. Most times it takes 2 thumbs on the release to get the mags to drop. Unacceptable in IPSC.

For now I will stick with my Glock17 until I find a fix for the GP6 mag release or sell it.

Anyone have a fix for this issue?

I shot a GP-6 a few weeks ago, and had an additional problem with mag seating/release - mind you I'm a lefty, with somewhat meaty hands. During recoil, I must've been bumping the mag release, causing the mag to unseat and fail to feed the next round. Consiously changing my grip seemed to help a little, but not reliably. Might not even have been my hand bumping it? Might be curable with some tuning, but it was enough to take the GP-6 off my shopping list since I've never had similar experience with any other pistols.

Keep your magazines loaded.

You need to lightly sand the top-front part of the mag base, where the lettering is. Once you get rid of the raised letters the mags will seat fine.
