Not sure if this should be in the action shooting section or not? It is a shooting sport. :) Anyway, I thought it would be boring but was pleasantly surprised. I kept wanting to get a better score and couldn't wait for the next target to go up.

Kind of funny that my only .22 handgun is my Glock 17 with the AA conversion so I used that. I didn't realise all Bullseye was shot single handed! Watch out IDPA, my one handed skills are going up a notch. lmao

May have to buy a fancy .22 but for now I am going to see how good I can get shooting Bullseye with my Glock.

bulls-eye used to be "THE" sport for "REFINED" gentlemen; indeed, s&w and others ( colt) made revolvers specifically for the sport- when you were training, your weak hand went in your back pocket, and there was a proper stance and eveything- most of it was done with the 38 spcl-it can be kind of humbling to find out that you're NOT as good as what you thought you were- if you look closely at the old time bullseys shooters, you can see it's DUELLING roots

Yes you definitely find out you are not as good as you thought you were! lol

They are starting the league with .22 but are going to incorporate some centerfire as well I believe.

Here is a great resource for Bullseye one of the guys gave us last night....

I am hooked on bullseye! It is a lot more fun than I thought it would be too. I think that if everyone started on bullseye they would be a lot further ahead when shooting the other sports like IPSC and IDPA. It really forces you to focus on the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship and will uncover any flaws in your shooting really fast!

Sadly it seems to be dying out. I am always trying to get guys to at least give it a try.

it's always been "dying out" as the "new kids" invent new disciplines for their krunchentickers- if you go back to where bullseye was a sport( and it's bulls-eye) not all one word, although i keep forgetting the hyphen, you will see the typical pistol was either a s&w in 38 or a colt officer's - your typical rcmp revolver- you get to appreciate how much your wrist and arm move with a couple of pounds of gun under recoil at the end of it-

Lol....I remember saying something like that awhile ago and everyone said I was stupid..lol

Yeah, it has my attention. And yes, there's no place for a magazine, it is a single shot pistol.

not only your one handed skill improve but it will teach you A LOT about trigger control that will help you in all aspects of shooting, one handed, two handed, even rifle.

tell those guys to try to shoot some 50 meter free pistol with you if they are ready to be humbled.

Locally Bullseye shooting is at an all time low. Most new shooter seem to think accuracy is by volume rather than aimed fire. practice bullseye and it will improve all other forms of shooting.

see what a pistol can really do.

I really enjoy Bullseye as well. I would like to shoot more IDPA than I do, but my work hours make it kind of challenging to attend the Wednesday evening matches at EESA. However, there are frequent Bullseye matches on Saturdays so I have begun attending them when I can. Some of the guys ask me how it is even possible to enjoy something that "slow". I just tell them to try it before judging, but very few ever do.

FWIW, I use an S&W 22A for rimfire and a 686 for center-fire. Neither one is the best tool for the job but that's what I own so that's what I use. I don't even try to keep up with the top guns, I just play against myself, so to speak.

So I shot Bullseye again last night with my Glock and conversion kit. I also tried a real nice $2000 Walther .22 with a red dot. I have decided I am going to keep doing Bullseye with guns that I normally use in action shooting. So now I am in the market for a 1911 .22 conversion or a dedicated 1911 .22. It really does make you more accurate at longer distances when you switch back to your "regular" gun.

I still would like to know how guys become Master in five divisions in IDPA! That would take a lot of practice!!!! Hope Bullseye helps me get there.

Yeah Right!! :D

I shoot bullseye once in a while during the winter months,...as that is what is run at an indoor range in Hampton, NB. Challenging for sure...great to diversify your practice.

My Dad was just telling me about my Grandpa shooting that way in the 50's... I didn't realize the old farmer was so refined. lol
I'm sure my Dad will get a kick out of that.
