Shot in a .22LR. ?

It may be me that's a bit behind the times, but I had no idea that federal was loading some bird shot in .22LR.

I spotted the item in Cabela's catalogue selling as: .22 Long Rifle Bird Shot, Classic .22/Box of 50/#10 shot/7,49$.

Bird shot in .22 Rimfire has been around for a very long time. They used to make smoothbore .22's designed for shot. The rifling grooves will cause inconsistent string patterning and due to the small amount of shot it holds it's only effective for within a few feet anyway.
