The match was held at the Barrie Gun Club (ON). It was a Level One match, but there turned out to be enough attendees that it could have been Level Two (or so I understand).

A whole bunch of us (nine, I think) who took the Black Badge course two weeks ago at Aurora Gun Club were there for our first "qualification" event.

I drove up to Barrie with two experienced IPSC shooters and fellow Gun Nutz -- colt45gunner and Newbrunny. We stopped for a hearty breakfast at the Husky truck stop at 400 and 89 on the way, just to be sure we'd be able to keep our strength up. Good food and chat and a cute waitress. :)

The match was lots of fun. My main focus was just to get through the whole course of fire safely and not get DQ'd (disqualified, not Dairy Queen). Thankfully, I made it with no major f**k ups, and got my provisional Black Badge card signed off.

I don't think I did *too* badly for a first time attempt, but the truth will be known when the scores are posted. :)

I discovered thay one can never have too many mags...

What pistol/caliber have you shot. I was there just to watch and can't wait for ATT to come and start IPSC on my own.

good to have you .... That steel on the left side was painted with some sort of extra-strength lead-repelling paint, didn't you find? I did...

They must have used that same lead-repelling paint on the right-hand popper, too.

Either that or there's a force field that forces the bullets into stealth-mode. :D

first IPSC match

welcome, one match is all you need to be addicted to IPSC, good to see Ontario's already shooting matches....we have to wait another 3 weeks yet in "sunny....not snowy" BC Lower Mainland to shoot one....Thompson Mtn.

We're shooting an indoor IPSC match tomorrow in Edmonton. It's going to be #1 for me too!

My son's doing the Black Badge course in Trenton today, and shooting his first match there tomorrow, indoors as well.

I shot on the 1pm (2:30) squad with another bunch of the Aurora shooters. They all seem to be having a fantastic time, and most importantly were all safe. Also seems like a few might be some pretty good IPSC shooters with some experience. Looks like Kent did another great job again.

Glad to see another good group of guys joining the sport.

I guess you could tell I was one of Kents students, when Pulled out a pocket full of rounds to reload the mags, while still on the line.

:):):)

Two weeks.

I believe PoCo has a Club Match on the 19th.

Welcome to the game straitshooter It sounds like I missed a good match. There were a few of us from the Peterborough club there as well.
And not to worry you will get good as long as you practice, practice, practice. Or so they tell me. hahaah
Also you are going to meet some great guys and girls !

Make that one experienced (colt45gunner) and one inexperienced (Newbrunny) IPSC shooter...

Congrats again Straightshooter... You did very well - probably better than me.

Hope you can make it out to the Gormley matches on Wednesdays.
