shot over chrony with hunting loads

got to finally put a few rounds over a chrony today, loads are as follows- suprised with the 7.62x39 and the 308 loads for my partners franchi..

22lr-40gr 1270fps
Sako a1 222rem 55gr 2835fps 2836fps
zastava lkm85 20inch 7.62x39 =150gr speer - 2200fps 2196fps
Franchi 308win 22inch= 150gr light load varget 2200fps 2220fps
kimber 84m 22inch 708= 140gr c.lub. 2725fps
160gr hot cor 2420fps

as i was sayin, suprised the 762 and the 308 are same same, very "30-30ish" like- after using the 7.62x39 on the deer we intend to hunt with her 308 load, im confident it will be perfect for 200m an under shots broadside on mostly fallow Does..
i was expecting more 2400fps ? we did a drop test an at 200-250 on the jbm it lined up about 2400fps but over chrony at 10ft or so it showed 2200..
we got about 4 inch at 200 and 10 inch at 250m from about +1.5 at 100.. anywho all fairly roughly mind you.

an goes to show the little 7.62x39mm is packing enough for the task.

That's a very slow 308 load. I can push 150 gr bullets in every 308 I own (and thats a few) up to 2700 or better. - dan

yeah for sure Agree on that, it was , as is the 30-30 , was our benchmark for recoil and energy " " , it needed to be more than them to be perfect- chose the 308 as the projectiles are more than adequate for the low levels we inteded to use them as, an well priced... but totally being able to withstand more ,as we slowly load it up to near minimum 308 data.

the girl has shot my hunting loads in 7mm08, but i wanted something that wouldnt make her not enjoy shooting guns.... recoil after a few stout loads isnt fun on the target.. so thats why we got her , her own gun.
the 762 is a left hand, so totally not suited for her- this was also why i went a 308 in her own gun :)

yeah me too really--- will re shoot these over chrono when my partner is back from a holiday - as we keep practising out to 250m on some gongs using the BDC holdovers- the burris works for her 200m an 250m impacts, im not dialling -

we shot a poa an measured the drop, marked them an then lined up the BDC an it worked out good.

All good reasons. I would look into one of the soft recoil pads and maybe a PAST recoil shield. They used to make version specifically for female shooters called the Hera. They help. - dan

Yup it’s a 30-30 loading ! 308W will shoot 150 s at 2850 easy I have had 308 s shoot to near 2950 with a 24 “ I’m just loading for a 26 “ Heavy barrel right now . It will be interesting to see what FPS I get at normal max pressure. RJ

im not sure many of the recoil pads fit these franchis with the weird kind of pad they have, the shape into the stock!

Shes handling it no worries- another 6 months or so just shooting an ill load it up a few grains more :)

There are the types that just slip over the butt, perhaps one of those would work. - dan
