Shot prices.

Any sign of shot prices coming down? Keep hearing rumers about drops stateside but nothing yet in NB.

I have heard rumor that lead price is going down. Unfortunatly the economy is going down as well and it cost quite a bit to transport. With the exchange rate, I am not holding my breath for a deal.

More than a rumor is that lead shotshells, especially target loads are on the way up. Way up!

How complicated is lead that we have to ship it up from the states?

Well we ship all the raw materials down to them for next to nothing and they make it into a finished product and ship it back for a good profit.

Buy a used littleton shot maker. There are several kinds that produce excellent shot for trap/skeet/sportingclays shooting. google video littleton shot maker.

Hummason manufacturing in Ancaster makes shot $32/25lb over Christmas. I haven't confirmed but I heard at the range that the price recently dropped to $26.

Hi I see on trapshooters.com that a reclaim outfit out of Washington State has cleaned, re-graphited and bagged in 25 lbs in mixed shot sizes for $14.95 US in quantities of 124 bags.
Shipping location is in the Huston, TX general area.
There is hope.

Beats me. I'm guessing a lot unless you can arrange an 18 wheeler full for a group buy. Its not magnum shot but most of the guys around here are using it.

The point that was making is that it is not cheap unless one has a good local supply:D Transportation would make it more expensive.

I sure hope our local club mines a bit for us to use. After another thread on reclaimed shot I did a little research. I found a recent article by Tom Roster of Sporting Clays magazine. He says no need to apply graphite. He claims that graphite has nothing to do with squeezing shot down the barrel and through tube.Graphite is a lubricant that allows shot to flow easily through a load tube. He said that the oxide on used shot will also serve that same purpose, and slightly oxidized shot is good for trap targets out to about 40 yards.

Point taken. I was also addressing the notion that all the lead shot people use comes from the states. Its not the best shot money can buy but I don't know how good I would feel shooting reclaimed, with the risk of rocks etc scoring my barrel.
