I confess more than a few people have told me I am more than a little stuborn. Am I the only one in Canada who wants to load hunting loads for shotguns? I've been loading rifle cartridges for almost 4 years now, and I get extra satisfaction whenever I (or one of my friends) takes game with a cartridge I have carefully assembled.
Now I also avidly hunt deer (in a shotgun only zone) and wild turkeys. Those of you who also do this will know that sabot slug loads and premium magnum turkey loads are very special (and expensive). It seemed reasonable to me that I should reload these.
So, just as I did a few years ago for rifle cartriges, I bought two (2) good shotshell reloading manuals - and read them. One thing I deduced from reading these manuals is that shotshells are even more specific component sensitive than rifle cartridges. I was happy to note that between the two manuals I had very many loads that looked suitable for my purposes.
Trying to source compenents is where the trouble started. Most of the stores I buy shooting supplies at either told me what I was trying to do was either pointless or impossible. By now I know it's not impossible. The point to it all can certainly be argued.
A few questions;
1. How many of you GunNutz load your hunting shotshells?
2. Assuming at least some of you do, where do you get your components? Right now I am trying to build some 3" Nontoxic Goose Loads....
