shot shell size

I'm thinking about purchasing a shotgun strictly for trap, skeet,etc, a used o/u. Do you need to have a shotgun that shoots shells bigger than 2/34 or would that do the job?

no that does the job just fine. Most ranges have limits on what size of shot and size of shell you can use. If you want to go hunting then I would get a gun that does 3 or 3 1/2.

Nope, 2 3/4 is the max allowed for trap and skeet (of course with recreational shooting these rules may not apply). 2 3/4 will be just fine.
