here is another question. I came across rimfire ammo that says its bird shot shells with #12 shot. I wonder what is it? Is it like a little shotgun shells? How good are they for grouse or quale? Will it work with semi-auto rifle? What about a spread pattern how big is it?

Its a VERY close quarter shell, under 15'. For pests (birds, bats, rats, etc) inside barns or up in rafters, they're decent. Minimal damage to the structure. They become ineffective very quickly. I shot some at a target about 15m away. There was slight damage to the paper, probably 75% bounced off. The cup did more damage than the actual shot did.
Not a good idea for hunting, unless you're using your rifle as a bat :p :D , and I don't think they have the power to cycle a semi.

(E)

I keep some in the ammo box for when I'm at the range. Pigeons nest in the hut rafters and these are great for "house cleaning".
