SHOT SHOW 2012: Schmidt and Bender 1-8X Optic for G28 DMR

I see that the S&B 1-8 is still a prototype. With the launch of Leupold's new Mark 6 1-6x20 FFP tactical scope, the baby version of their uber expensive 1.1-8 CQBSS, I wonder if S&B will ever get around to launching their 1-8 Short-Dot. S&B recently revised the price of this scope upwards by a $1k to $3500, which puts it in the same price park at the CQBSS. Quite frankly I'd like to know what Leupold's strategy was with the launch of the Mark 6 1-6, because not only will it potentially decimate S&B's 1-4 and 1-8 Short-Dot market it's also going to cannibalize their own CQBSS sales. S&B's 1-4 Short-Dot, with the recently announced price increase ($2700), must now be dead in the water who is going to buy one with Leupold's Mark 6, that retails for $800 less. Interesting time for the scope makers. The race to the top in price terms is going to unseat a few I think.

Did you check out the Hensoldt line at the Zeiss booth? They had the one prototype3 with the on board computer that monitored environmentals, angles, cant you name it. Very cool.
