SHOT SHOW 2012: STI 1911s

I don't think that it has anything to do with California.
Q: Will the recent California Microstamping Bill affect California specific products?

A: We will be suspending all shipments of guns to California effective October 13, 2007. This includes everyone from civilians to Law Enforcement.

The STI web site, there's a bushing... Which is the real setup ?
It's a pre-production prototype on the website; it will be changed.

Most of the 1911 companies including STI are making 4.25 inch barreled guns to be compliant I was told with California Sate laws? STI certainly had a few(4.25") in that lenght that I handled, not sure thought to model, seem to lost my Cataloge between LAS Vegas and Thunder Bay! Dale Z!
STI won't do business in Califorina due to thier stupid laws. They don't care about California. Working thier booth with them, I had to tell a lot of disappointed Californians that we couldn't help them. :(

Winner Winner, Sheen Dinner! :D

The 4.15" STIs are Ranger II, Ranger III, Lawman 4, Spartan 4 and Tactical 4.

Sorry for the mis info., it is just that most companies at SHOT were selling 4. somthing barrels for California compliance, wich always helps us, But I must say for STI to make the guns a little longer helps us out here in Canada a whole lot, thanks for the correction, spent a good hour at the booth, great product, especially when they can convert a 1911 hater to there side, cheers Dale Z!;)

No need for an apology! There's way more than just barrel length that causes the problem with California, there's testing procedures and legal liabilities that the Texans are just not going to put up with.

Thanks very much for stopping by thier booth. They (and I too) really appreciate it!

I like STI new Tactical 4.0, but can't understand why they introduced the Tactical 3.0. At 33 ounces the 3.0 is much too heavy for CCW and it's double stack grip will print like crazy. You might as well carry a full length STI IMO.

The Lawman does something for me. I especially like the subdued roll mark on the slide. Looks much better than the traditional STI billboard. 4.15" and available in 9mm to boot. I was strongly considering the SIG Carry model with it's Canada-legal barrel but what I really wanted was a Commander-length, bushing barrel, 9mm single stack 1911 with some decent combat sights and a reasonable trigger out of the box. About the only change I'd make is some G10 grips, otherwise it's perfect.

My first centrefire pistol is a STI Spartan in 9mm. It rocks. So glad I went with it. It is a blast to shoot and ###y as hell! Only thing I wanna tweak is the rear sights. I think I need illuminating dots there, seems it would help.
