He Guys I was researching the type 81 and found this article that didn't seem to make any news up here...
i've put it in the black/green section because it ain't red... Or at least they aren't intending to sell it as a Red... Confusing

Apparently based on the Ak-100 pattern which in turn is based on the 74's but if this is now 3-4 generation ahead of the old 47 do you all think we may finally have a chance of getting a Canadian legal Kalashnikov in this country? It actually looks more like a Beretta AR-160 thank an AK....

Kalashnikov USA AK Alfa semiautomatic rifle |
![]() 01/29/2016 - SHOT Show 2016 / New from Kalashnikov USA: the AK-Alfa brings the AK/AKM platform straight into the 21st Century The team of all4shooters.com / all4hunters.com ![]() The AK-Alfa was redesigned by a team of former Israeli Defense Forces members to bring the venerable AK platform straight into the 21st Century Kalashnikov USA – the US-based branch of the Concern Kalashnikov – broke grounds at the 2016 SHOT Show with a new rifle platform dubbed the AK-Alfa that will be available on the civilian markets later on during the year (no MSRP specified so far); redesigned by a team of Israeli Defence Forces, the new AK-Alfa brings the Kalashnikov platform well into the 21st Century. The AK-Alfa is a standard AKM design, at least mechanics-wise, but is based on the AK-100 series for even incresed reliability and performance, coupled with US-manufactured, precision-made parts (barrels included). The construction of the two receivers is fully metallic, albeit the lower receiver sports a polymer protective overlay, a modern-style sidefolding and retractable/adjustable stock, an ergonomic pistol grip that can be tailored to several hand sizes, a quick-release magazine catch, and fully ambidextrous controls. The AK-Alfa also comes with an M-LOK handguard and a top MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail for optics. The 7,62x39mm caliber version feeds through standard AK magazines, while the projected 5,56x45mm caliber version may use either AK .223-cal magazines or Galil magazines.
