Why have a forward assist on both sides of the upper receiver (pics in original post)? I get the lack of any forward assist in the second set of photos.

Call me a nut! But most likely when I purchase an AR platform, it will have a very very long barrel, fast twist for heavier bullets, Atlas bipod/SADLAK mount and high end military grade optics.

Indeed, one's the "regular" with normal controls, the other one's with the auto mag drop (as soon as it's empty) and the auto bolt release (closes as soon as a full mag is inserted).

As someone who appreciates historical firearms, I'm suprised you would not get on with the original design of the AR-15 as Eugine Stoner created it Lou. As a fellow lefty you owe it to yourself to check out a Knight's Armament SR-15. The ambi controls are the pinnacle of AR design which Mr. Stoner had a hand in creating before he passed.

Personally, I think the stuff in this thread is garish, but to each their own.
