Shotgun adapters

Anyone tried the adapters for shotgun to pistol cartridge? I got a first look at one that my buddy has which is 12 gauge to .22 LR. Once the weather gets better we will take it out for a try. Not really interested in .22LR myself so I turned out a 20 gauge to 32 S&W this morning and hope to try it tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone here has actually used one yet?

Hi Polar_hunter!

Nice Video. Your accuracy is amazing for a shotgun to pistol cartridge was the rifling intact in that barrel? Last year I got a chance to use a smooth bore shotgun adapter in 12g to 9mm. The accuracy was terrible even at 10 feet let alone 20 meters, and keyhole after keyhole on the target. I bet after you get some sights on that shotgun your groups will be even better.

I have 4-3/4" of two grove rifling in the adapter, probably close to the correct length of the pistol that the cartridge was designed for. I intend to make some sights for the shotgun next week. Will post results.

i bought a set of sub caliber adaptors from gaugemate.com. they are in california but ship to us. havent had the chance to try them out yet. they're all rifled (or smoothbore in the shotgun to shotgun caliber adaptors) and they're pistol length so accuracy in theory shouldnt be much worse than a handgun.

I had a 12 - 9mm for a bit. The fun wore off quick, and it felt like a novelty. I I were to get another one, it would be one of the 5-7 inch rifled ones. the short ones are useless past 20 yards. didnt like having to remove it after each shot and use a stick to poke out the casing.

I have a 12ga to 357. and Love it. I understand that I cannot fire 500 round through it, but as a survival/special needs adapter it is pretty cool. I can hit a pie plate consistently @ 25yards and thats ok by me.

I bought mine on line from USA from Dina Arms. Good Service and selection.

Nice feature is it feeds just like any 12ga shell and are the same weight.

I also have 2 in 9mm and a 12ga to 410.

A "pie plate" at 25 yards,,,, perhaps I was hoping for to much, I guess a 4" group isn't so bad.

What were you aiming at Polar Hunter when you were shooting that cardboard target? I couldn't really see the 4 inch group on my screen but I'm thinking with a better front sight, a more defined target and perhaps different ammo you could do better.
Also it's not shown in the video but do you keep the orientation of the adapter consistent in the chamber of the shotgun?

Aiming at an 1-1/4" bulls-eye on the cardboard. A better front sight would probably help, going to work on that. Just as it is, it shoots 2" groups with slugs. I have an indicator mark on the adapter so orientation is consistent.
