Love to have some opinions

Looking for a semi auto shotgun

For waterfowl mainly I’d love to buy it used so something older then this year recommendations anyone and maybe a reason why. Price range sub 1000$

Don’t really care if it shoots 3 1/2” but needs to take 3” and removable chokes for steel shot

Thanks for your help cgn

You can't go wrong with a Browning A5, there is a few of them floating around for that price. I would try to stick with a black synthetic stock, you will not have to worry about getting it wet or damaged. However, you will still need to clean and oil the other parts after use as any good firearm owner does.
You can use and abuse an A5 and it still works when you need it to.
That just my opinion, hope it helps.

Cheers.

first, decide if you want an inertia or gas operated gun. For gas guns, look at the SX3, Remington V3, Remington versamax sportsman or Beretta A300. For inertia, I’d recommend a Benelli but might be tough to find one sub $1000. Franchi (also inertia) are supposed to be a good buy but I have no experience with them.

I've had a Stoeger M3500 for the past two seasons and absolutely love it. Runs 3 1/2" if thats your thing. Comes with several chokes. The stock bead is pretty big and not very bright, easy enough to change out. It has been very reliable, not a single ftf or anything. It goes on sale for pretty cheap. I now use it for turkey, waterfowl, small game, and trap shooting.

SX3. There's a reason its been mentioned by half the posts here already. I just cleaned mine for the first time in probably 1000 rounds, it was filthy but it never once failed me.

Winchester SX3. Search Google for reviews. All good. Love mine.

My gf shoots a Beretta A400Xplor and I shoot a Winchester SX3....both got us through clay target and waterfowl season without a hiccup. Both great guns but for half the price of the Beretta the SX3 would be my first choice.

Another SX3 fan here.
Aaaaand another vote for the SX3.

Mossberg 930. The most underpriced, reliable and useful gun on the market in my opinion.

This.

That being said have had auto5"s but none with removable chokes.

You really have to shoulder them. Some of the choices posted, "to me", I wouldn't touch them, not because they're not a good shotgun, because when shopping I shouldered them and they simply felt wrong for me.

My main waterfowl gun when running steel is an older beretta a303 with fixed mod. I have 2.75" and 3" barrels for it. Generally hunt from a kayak. When hunting fom a boat or blind i take my beretta a400 either 12 or 20ga depending on where i hunt. Tonight i may take my charles daly 20ga out for a lake hunt in the kayak
