Shotgun back scabbard

I've got one of the voodoo scabbard's and it's ok but could use some improving.

It needs stronger more abrasion resistant material on the inside up top where the sights rub.. this isn't too bad with just a bead sight but I've been using mine to carry a trapper lever carbine and the sights are chewing up the weak material....

Another basic improvement would be to make it a bit bigger inside to allow it to work better with leverguns or shotguns with taller sights and ghost rings, some compression straps would allow the user to tighten it to their specific gun.
 
This is the one TSE had made. I have it in the EE right now.

I was able to grab one of the ones RCMP ERT teams had built by Eagle Industries. I will snap some pictures and post them. It's adjustable for barrel length.
 
just make sure no portion of the shotgun rides higher then your shoulder. Not to discourage anyone from buying stuff but I am a bit skeptical as to the application of this carry method. Good quality slings and sling attachment hardware IMHO would serve most people much better. As would some sort of quick release (think combat pack strap releases) method of affixing to a pack.

Carried on a sling muzzle down is hard to beat for useabilty and hassle free movement.
 
check out the back shotgun carrierused by th main male star in the second mummy show.he has itfor a short 1887 winchesterlever action fastened to the double shoulder holster he uses.

I have one of the Condor/Voodoo ones. I never intended it as a quick-draw type of scabbard, and as such I was not disappointed when it proved to be absolutely useless in this role. It is however, very useful for keeping dirt and debris away from your shotgun as you move through thick woods to your next stand. I find the pack attachments are fine if the sides of your pack are good and square.

Two changes I would make to it - the shoulder strap attaches with large metal hooks, and dig in to your skin. Use a different attachment system, and relocate the attachment points. Also, the PALS ladders need to be moved or extended up to the edge of the opening, so one can lower the attachment and stress points on your pack.

Again, for those of you that have mental images of you whipping your shotgun out Army-of-Darknes-style, it's not going to happen. No matter how long you practise in front of the mirror, you'll still be a walking safety hazard. And you'll need to take it off to re-sheath anyway. But it does keep your gun clean and can be more comfortable than a sling.

Also, I could see some usefulness for a soldier who carries it as a tertiary weapon for breaching. If SOP was for a fire-team partner to remove/replace the shotgun, it could be a safe and secure means of transporting the shotgun. That being said, I am starting to venture outside of my lane, and it could very well be the solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

Invaluable for use on a 4 wheeler. OR A HARLEY!! LOL Right now even with my sling snug right and slung diagonally, I'm hooking/tearing up my seat on my Yammy with the front rifle sight when I bounce. And I tend to bounce. Or it might be my short torso.....LOL

I'd be in for one that'd handle a 18" Defender or girthy enough for a 20" Police Magnum with the LE folder on it, and a little comfy padding...:D
