Wanna port my shotgun barrel. 20 inch IC barrel - no chokes. Anything I should watch out for? What size of holes - recommendations? Straight threw holes or come at a 45 degree angle from behind muzzle to promote reduced recoil impulse. Pattern important? Looking for some tips here. Thanks

I did my own. I don't remember the sizes, I have them written down at work. The holes were about .109, but I don't remember offhand the spacing. I believe I went 30,45,and 60 degrees. Just make sure the holes aren't too close together or you'll weaken the barrel and blow it out at the ports. And make sure the inside is totally de burred (I use a honing machine)

What is "reduced recoil impulse"?

The only thing Porting does to a Shotgun is make it louder.

Looking for less kick and a flatter shooting shotgun.

You ported all those? Know of someone who tried and failed? Hook us up with info. please.

I didn't port any of them they were factory ported. Except the P gun it was done by Money Maker.

How would porting make a gun "shoot flatter"?

Compensator effect? Your saying don't bother it's not worth the effort but you have it done on a few shotguns. I don't understand.

Those guns were already ported when I bought them.

What does "Compensator effect" mean?
