Hello all!

I recently purchased a well used Belgian Auto 5 Vent Rib Barrel that is, well... been well used.
Is has a pronounced bend/bulge about 17" from the breech, which appears to put the muzzle off about .050" to the right, and perhaps half as much down. As well, some of the vents are slightly depressed. I was wondering if it can be restored factory fresh condition, and what it might cost to do so.
I would be having the barrel straightened/undented/debulged etc. threaded for chokes (Colonial), re-blued to match original finish (likely "medium" gloss), and potentially have the forcing cone lengthened, backboreing, and add ports, if the price is right.

I am not asking if this is a worthwhile endeavor (I know, I know, purchasing one of the Auto 5s on the EE, and substituting out the barrel would be cheaper, but alas), but who you would recommend to do such work?

Cheers!

Considering your location, Cary Stricker in Leader, SK would be the closest gunsmith who could be fully trusted to do what you ask. He will have the barrel for two years or so, and it will cost you a couple of thousand dollars or more (depending on the actual hours he has to spend on the work).

The barrel would have to have substantial sentimental value to even consider such work.

Like Sharptail said, such work would be cost prohibitive. Try Corson's Barrels in the U.S., they have hundreds of barrels for out of production shotguns. Don't know if they ship to Canada but if you can get a U.S. shipping address, you are in business.
