Hello,
I've been hunting with a 870 super mag for a while and have some grips, stocks, a +6 mag tube, etc for it... just collecting leggo parts to make it more fun. I also have a 12.5" mag fed grizzly that I put a Boyd thumb hole laminate stock on to be different.

I just won a benelli nova 3.5"in a CCFR raffle and I think I like it better. I think I'm going to sell both and all the 870 bits and buy a DOMINION ARMS KODIAK MARINE SHOTGUN - 13" BARREL - 12GA - WALNUT STOCK... sorry I pasted... for my sleeping in a tent gun.

Makes sense right?

I'd like to hear opinions on any of it, I think I'm going to do it.

Well for starters man you'll get more out of the shotguns you have than the cost of the Kodiak. But most important to me personally is reliability followed by practicality/functionality. What good is a shotgun that goes click? Or clunk? I need a bang if I need a gun to save my bacon. Before I let a gun have that job it gets tested at the range extensively. I want to know about any problems at the range, not in the tent. What I'm saying is I buy one and it becomes a prospect. Then it goes to one of three slots. Bacon defense arsenal, range toy or sell. No unreliable junk stays around unless its super dooper cool and fun to shoot at the range. The Kodiaks are new on the market and untested. Could be solid or could have minor issues like other budget lineups. I'd run one through the wringer then decide if you want to sell the others.

No no no... I really like the benelli. More than my 870 super mag. Also I think I prefer a bead over the tall ghost ring sights on my grizzly 12.5 mag fed. In the dark or real fast, the big post catches on things and I shoot shotguns enough to be able to use a bead pretty well.

For a cheaper semi auto or break action, single, double. over-under the Turkish guns look pretty good for the price.... for a pump I'd stick with Remington or Mossberg.

I just don't think that my 870 super mag is a really great hunting gun compared to the Benelli. I just want to buy one of these really short little pump shotguns as a back up. It would be great if one of my fellow gun nutz already put 1000 rounds through one gave me the heads up. Are they solid?

For another $300 you could by a 14 inch mossberg, they are solid..... :)
The Fabarm's have come down a bit in price as well.... less then twice the cost of the Turkish Pump.
Hard to say with the Turkish Pumps at least Canada Ammo has good support if you get a dud.
