I have a benelli supernova with 28" barrel and a fabarm pump with 14" barrel(no tactical junk just a light camp gun).

Shouldering my brothers 870 is a dream compared to the benelli- damn thing comes right up where it should it seems. Both the fabarm/benelli have shim adjustments but im pretty clueless what to do with em. Anyone have any tips? im not a competition shooter(bust recreational clays semi often and the odd slug) should I just get used to it?

If you shoulder the gun and close your left eye (assuming your right handed) what do you see? You should see straight down the rib and not much of the rib before the bead. For me when I shoulder most guns, when I close my left eye, I see more rib to the right of the bead, meaning the stock is hitting my face and not letting the gun come far enough left to line up the right eye with the bead. the gun will shoot left of where you think you are aiming. For this you need to use a shim that moves the stock to the right-cast off.
If you see a lot of rib under the bead -like looking up a ramp-the gun will shoot high for you and you need to shim the stock down - more drop.
Ideally the gun should touch your face first, than your shoulder, then you should be lined up for the shot without jamming your face into the stock to get a good picture.
The further out the shot, the more any misalignment affects point of impact.
Oops, I'm getting carried away!! my thoughts anyway.
