hi, thinking of getting a shotgun for IPSC maches, eyeing on the benelli super nova-18 inchs bbl or the 24?, or Rem 870 with 7 shots capacity, hoping for some suggestion, or any comments, feedback is highly appreciated.

The limit for IPSC Standard shotgun (manual) for the initial load and make ready is 8 plus one in the chamber...

The Mossberg 590 comes 8 plus one out of the box...
The 590 A1 has a nice heavy barrel...

The Super Nova or the 870 are also great choices. There are mag extensions available for both to make the 8 plus 1...

To go 8 plus 1...you need a 20 inch barrel (or the mag ext will go out past the muzzle)

Cheers

Where I shoot we only use open class. Everyone is open. I shoot a rem 870 express with 28" barrel modified choke (rem choke) and the 10 round mag extension (tacstar). I use a side saddle (6 shot tacstar) and a buttstock neoprene ammo carrier as well. I have a shortened forestock as well to clear the saddle. I shoot off of a vent rib with the front bead. Next year I am hoping to get speed loaders as well.

So this means check out the local IPSC range and see what the other guys are shooting. With the long barrel and choke I knock down steel plates with light 7 1/2 while other guys are having trouble with #4.

I started off with the rem 870 express 7 shot shotgun and quickly saw I could not compete in open with the bigger mags so stole the barrel off of my duck gun etc. etc.
