I had this originally on Jim Rocks thread about shotgun competition, then realized this is only fun
We held a couple of "Practical Shotgun" shoots in the past
We used milk jugs about 1/4 full of wood-fire pellets for the bird-shot targets
These would react nicely with a good hit and didn't have to be reset until pushed out of range
easy to clean up too
We had two doors for stages , to shoot from behind or through the window
five shots/five jugs at each, move was lateral
10 rnds, required reloading, especially for those with old SxS's.
Buck shot was similar iirc maybe 8 rnds?
Slugs, we used metallics and had three sets, 2 or 3 rnds each ?
Movement was forward after each, like chasing a bear
Reloading was required by most
Slugs were last as most shooters were bruised up after the first rounds.
Surprising how much adrenaline was flowing with the movement and the reloading
Everyone loved it even the guys with cuts and bruises.
Pistol grip shorties, SxSs, Grandpas bird gun, everyone tried it
No prizes, no first/second/third
