A friend of mine was given a "box-o-shotgun" (in pieces) and is trying to figure out what it is. On the barrel is:

Remington Arms Co. Ilion,NY USA
Patents Feby.3.1903.May16.1905

616XX

On the right side of the barrel is and RP in a circle, on the left side is FULL, on the underside is D45

ON the reciever is:

U
616XX

It is a bottom load/eject type action. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Could be a Model 10...

The model 29 and the model 10 are virtually identical the easiest way to identify a model 29 is they were factory checkered model 10's were not there are some subtle differences in the action I presume the pictured one was checked after the fact .

Neither 0f my M10's have pistol grip stocks like the one in the picture, Struff.
Did they make them like that uncheckered?
Mine are more rounded edges, not quite a POW however.

I do recall a change over on the model 10 from round to square or vise versa but my mind isn't what it once was but I'm quite sure the model 29 was the only checked version I would have to take a guess and say the butt stock on the pictured gun is after market maybe someone else can very a Trap stock version
