after duck hunting this morning unloading my BPS i noticed there were small dimples left on the primers of all the cycled rounds. They are very faint but it is slightly worrying any ideas as to what is causing it/ways to fix it?

Not sure about the BPS, but most shotguns have a firing pin spring that keep the firing pin from moving forward when cycling the action briskly. Take the barrel off, close the action and look into the breech with the stock in a vertical posistion. You shoulld not see the firing pin sticking out of the bolt. If you do the spring is probably broken or missing. Just my .02.

I know my Ithaca 37 allows me to thumb shells out of the mag without running them through the chamber. One pushes the shell release out of the way, and the mag spring throws 'em clear of the mag. The BPS is similar, no?

Doesn't answer your question, but it sounds like you're running them all through the gun to get 'em out. This works better and reduces the chance of an ND.

Lots of actions have a bolt that spins into place and can leave a ring. Unless you have a serious dent on the primer , I wouldn't worry too much about it. As said, post a pic.

Small dents in unfired rounds sounds like either a broken spring or dirt jammed up in it holding it forward, take it apart for a basic clean and check, if its a fired round, duck loads run pretty high pressures when fired and pushes it back against the bolt and there might be a raised bit from it flowing back into the firing pin hole in the bolt face

Some firearms do this because they have free floating firing pins. I know some highend HK rifles do that because they were made that way and when the bolt slammed shut it would do it.
