hey just wondering if someone could tell me the minimal legnth a shotgun can be for hunting

26" OAL.
How you meet that is up to you. 12.5" barrel with a pistol grip is not good, but a 12.5" barrel with a regular or AR style collapsible stock is fine.
18" barrel with pistol grip is good as well. I’m sure you get it now...

In which case the semi-auto must have an 18.5" barrel

Don't forget to check your regs. In BC I believe a barrel must be at least 12 inches for a hunting gun.
