Okay not new to guns but fairly new to shotguns....the wife and I went all out and bought a Benelli M4 Super 90 tactical shotgun. It is a sweet amazingly built italian unit. My question is that we took it to our indoor range for the first time last weekend and obviously had nothing more to shoot at than hanging cardboard targets....well after two shots ...you guessed it....no more target. This thing was super accurate and powerful. My questions are what do you folks use for targets at a range? Indoor or outdoor? Is cardboard the only option?

Go to a grocery store and start saving cardboard they should give it to you free and just put a bull on it with a marker. Also Liberal campaign signs work well too.

Clays are fun outdoors....
What load are you shooting?
Nice gun by the way!
I got a couple of FREE boxes of Winchester AA Super Sporting Clays, 12ga, 2.75", 1300FPS, 1 1/8oz. 7 1/2 shot.
Any advice would be appreciated. The club says nothing smaller than #4 shot, so I guess that mean I should be buying #1 through #4?

No, that means you should be buying a plastic hand launcher ($15.00) and a box of clays:)

Why does your club limit the size to 4 and bigger?

I usually use 7 1/2 - 8 for clays

Your club may mean nothing smaller IN SIZE than #4 shot.

The club would mean nothing LARGER in size than #4.To restrict shot to #4 or smaller in size than would rule out the use of any target load.Large shot travels further than small shot hence the adoption by many clubs of the shot size restriction. Most clubs that restrict shot size restrict it to #7 1/2 and smaller.
