In BC you can get a license to carry a handgun in the bush for protection if you do photography. A friend of mine has the permit and he carries a 1911 in a 45 custom round (gun has been beefed up to shoot really hot loads) in a holster on the front of his vest.

Anybody know if folks with wilderness ATCs can carry in ON provincial parks?

Hmmm it seems they say that if you encounter a problem bear or are being attacked by a bear, call 911.

Don't forget to put your hands in a "T" and call time-out so the bear knows not to attack you until after the 20-minute wilderness response time has elapsed and the MNR or OPP are 10-97.

Of course.

An ATC (federal document) would trump all provincial hunting/poaching regulations and local bylaws.
