HI all,

I wont be getting my New rifle in time for the moose hunt this week.

I use a 12 gauge 870 express with a rifled choke tube shooting WIN sabots....

Should that be ok for moose ??? Longest shot ill take would be 100 yards due to the THICK cover in the area we hunt

i hope not B.C. that is illeagle. shottys for bear and deer only.

This is a typical case of regulatons written by people who don't know what they are doing.

Can't use a 12 GA with slugs for moose, but I suppose it's okay to hunt with a 25/20, 32/20, 38/40, etc.

That slug will do just fine on a moose, especially right behind the front leg, center.

Good luck and dont push the trajectory.....100yds and under...

do you know anybody whom you could borrow one from

The Winchester Partition and the Remington Core-Lokt Ultra are both very accurate sabots that deliver over 1700 foot pounds of energy at 200 yards. :!:

the winchester partition gold sabot round comes very close to the .450 marlin balistically. there are also several others that match or beat factory 45-70 loads. close range and good shot placement it should work well.

It's a rifed barrel and a single projectile... Why would this not be considered a large caliber low velocity rifle?

I paged through the BC Hunting and Trapping Regulations but could not find this item. Is it in the published regulations?

It's an old law to discourage scattergunners from trying to pop an elk/moose with a smoothbore shooting an old fashioned punkinball which lacked any sort of reasonable accuracy. Seriously though, why would I want to use a shotgun for moose size critters when there are so many centerfire rifles available? And come on now a .303 works fine, they are available everywhere & are cheap...KF
