they add a significant amount of LOP if you already have some sortof hard pad on the gun.
other than that, they are pretty much the same as the prefit pads - a limbsaver or pachmayer slipon should give you roughly the same recoil reduction as a prefit.
what type of gun do you have? is there some reason you dont just get a prefit pad? slipons look pretty hideous.
Lol, my question was regarding a "butt cuff" which is basically a nylon piece that wraps over the stock and lets me hold an extra 5-6 rounds of 12 ga rounds.
I have a 12 Ga H&R Pardner. I want to get a slip on recoil pad for it as well. So I guess you answered my 2nd questions. I'll just get one in brown. I find it doesn't really deter that much.
Hahah! Silly 'mericans. Anyways, I hear that the neoprene ones are better than nylon. I would like to get a leather one, but I'm not sure who in Canada stocks one.
Now with this, I can have 8 shells in my 590's mag tube, 1 shell in the chamber, and 12 shells on the gun.
21 shells of awesome.
I practiced a "shotgun dump" from a full loadout of 21 shells, and WITH mag tube reloads, I shot all shells in 47 seconds. I'm practicing making that time shorter.
Went like this:
1. GO TIMER!
2. 9 Shell fired
3. Weak hand reload from receiver shotshell carrier
4. 6 Shells fired
5. Strong hand reload from buttcuff
6. 6 Shells fired
7. Stop timer.
another option is the eagle industries stock pouches:
im not sure if they can be had with shotgun shell loops however.
you can pick up clones on Ebay for about ~$10 shipped to your door, like this ACU one on my trunk gun:
it has velcro strips on the front and inside the pouch, and comes with 2 velcro panels - one with shotgun shell, and one with rifle cartridge loops that you can swap.
stitching is OK, zipper works fine - their main drawback is that the colors are a bit off from milspec so make sure you check the images carefully. for $10 though these are excellent to throw on your beater and trunk guns. get an Eagle pouch for your nicer guns.
