Ok ......ok.

So I am SICK AND TIRED of repairing the target boards at EESA.

Far too many twits seem to like shooting their 12 gauges at the boards.

They BLOW THE HELL out of not only the plywood target boards but they end up blowing out the 2x4 frames as well.

Does anyone have any designs for a target holder for shotguns that can take some abuse?

Depends on if you are concerned about rebounding shot!:D Steel frames might work wonders, until some idiot decides to shoot a large bore high powered rifle through it. Shotguns slugs should be stopped depending on the thickness of steel used(but they will probably leave a mark:p ). Buck shot will be stopped by most steel but on thinner softer metals they will leave a big dent (I know from experience!) The target backer board will still have to be plywood. This is based on my assumptions that this is the 25m target backers you are referring to.

My guess is that #7.5 shot from guys checking their trap patterns arent the problem. Probably guys testing turkey loads. Which reminds me, gotta check those turkey patterns ;) .

I made mine out of compressed air pipes. They are 1/4" steel wall pipes 1 1/2" diameter threaded together to make the frame, and it get staked into the ground.. Then I use some cardboard as the backer from a fridge or freezer box that I get from a local furniture store(they have to pay to dispose of it). The stand can really take the abuse. I've hit the frame with a Brenneke slug about 2 years ago, and all it made was a small dent. I'll try to get out to the farm Wednesday or Thursday to take a few pics. -Jason
