This has been discussed before. I have a rough receiver and stock from a Cooey 84, and a .410 barrel from another Cooey, crooked as a Liberal politician. Doesn't quite lock in the receiver, a bit of fitting is needed. I have a SMLE barreled receiver in the barrel of which someone thoughtfully drilled a 3/8" hole, about 3" up from the breech end. Nice bore. Diameter in front of the hole is .730. I'm thinking that the breech end of the .410 barrel could become a mono-block, and the .303 barrel section installed. Cut the barrel beyond the forend lug, to make installation of a forend simple. With the mono-block over 6" long, I think the rifle barrel could be bonded in. Drill out the .410 bore to 5/8, turn the barrel to suit.
I have a .32-20 reamer.
The ejector would have to be altered, the firing pin hole bushed and firing pin reduced in diameter.
Seems to have potential as a project - as if I needed another...

That sounds like a ton of fun!
If it were me building it, I think I'd make it with a fairly short length of pull, as a rifle like that would be great for introducing younger people to shooting.
Not much recoil or muzzle blast, and the single shot thing makes it safer for the inexperienced.

tiriaq I am guessing your cooey is an 84 not a 64 . It should be a doable make over. My question is do you think this action has the strength to handle .303 factory ammo @ 45000CUP or CIP 52939 PSI.?
Looking at the Chaszel web page for their rifle barrel adapters in shotguns ,they have a disclaimer saying not all shotguns are made the same. True point but how does one determan if his shotgun is built strong enough to handle the pressure?
Chaszel solution is tie your gun to tree and pull the trigger with a string,LOL. but they do not mention how many times you should fire it before you should consider it safe. I don't think one shot proves much.
Good luck with your project and let us know how it works out.
Hey tiriaq I just reread your post And I see your chambering in 32-20 ,should be no problem for that cartridge But what are your thoughts on the Chaszel barrels?

in addition to the ability to safely withstand the pressure of a given rifle cartridge, a lot of older shotguns also have a large diameter firing pin and that would need bushing plus a smaller diameter in

cheers mooncoon
