Hey guys-did a quick search and found old threads...so this is a 2026 refresh on the topic I guess! :) I'm looking for suggestions on a light to mount on a shotgun, mounting to a pic rail, ideally has a tail/cap switch. Lowest profile/shortest light will probably win...but what do you guys think for good/better/best? I have an older Olight Odin that I don't think is a good candidate. That 90 degree mount is a bit chunky for the rail position, and the light will protrude about 3/4" beyond the muzzle. I don't think the latter is a big issue, but maybe?

So much junk out there, looking for quality/wanting to avoid junk. I've had great luck with brands like Olight, Fenix.

Really appreciate the input, and happy 2026 guys!

Pump actions are going to require different lights than semi-autos but if it's shot with very much I tend to view any light on a shotgun as a temporary fixture, due to the recoil. The Streamlight Protac mentioned above is as good as any, with the sole exception of the Surefire light on a pump. I must have faith in Surefire or my world view tumbles, lol.
