I'm cross dominate, have been shooting since I was a kid (so 30+ years) but hand position is always awkward and I find most guns that don't have modern sporter ergos to have the trigger too far from the grip despite being a large human with large hands. I've tried adjusting to make it work, but my left hand just doesnt work like my right hand. Any amount of shooting with a shotgun leaves my middle finger bruised and sometimes bloody... I'd like to shoot more clays/waterfowl, but owww, my fingers hurt.

So far I've found Browning Cynergys and ATA SP Sporters can adjust the LOP with the trigger itself, nobody has one local and there are very few online... what else? I'd prefer an O/U, but a reliable semi would also work.

First I've heard of anyone hitting their finger on a trigger guard while firing. If you want an O/U with adjustable lop via trigger get a Citori target grade gun. They have 3 poisition adjustable triggers and usually come with three styles of interchangeable trigger. My 725 Trap Max has the adjustable/interchangeable triggers and a factory installed Gracoil so alot of LOP adjustment. Most Citori's made in the last 20 years or so have the adjustable triggers.

All Beretta 682 target guns have come with length adjustable triggers for 40+ years to current. That would be the Skeet, Trap and Sporting models and the stocks are also cast right or left as well with the appropriate side palm swell for a better hand fill. Most of them also included different easily interchanged trigger blades of different widths and textures, also angled for right or left. The Trap and Skeet models have a tighter, more vertical grip while the Sporting grip is more open and relaxed which allows a little more flexibility in hand placement. These features are also found in the newer 692, 694, DT10 and DT11 target models. If you’re looking for an all round clays/hunting over/under a Sporting model of one of these guns may suit your needs although they are more expensive new or used than an equivalent field model.

This may seem like a stupid question but have you tried sliding your hand back away from the trigger guard? Unless your fingers are quite short then you should have no trouble reaching the trigger. On the gun I have with the most vertical grip I still have almost 3/4 inch from the back of the trigger guard to my middle finger and if I slide up so my finger is touching the trigger guard then it becomes a very uncomfortable wrist angle. Most of my guns have at least an inch from the back of the trigger guard to my middle finger.

As an aside, the adjustable trigger position adjusts "reach" - which is technically part of LOP. However, if the stock was too long (or short) for you, it will still be that way after adjusting the trigger position.

By the way, I too had the problem with bruised and bloody fingers on a Franchi. Not adjustable or I'd still have it.
